Zach Moore Live from Breakfast of Champions 2012 by The Space Cowboys

Wow! What can we say? Breakfast of Champions was an overwhelming success and The Space Cowboys would like to thank each and every one of you for coming out to Mighty to celebrate the New Year with us!

So where do I start? How about the weather? 70 degrees and not a cloud in the sky (in January??). For the second year in a row we had a permitted closure of Utah Street and the entire block from 15th to Alameda was packed with all of our favorite people. The Funktion One system provided by Funkworks for the outdoor sound stage took the block party to a whole new level and, as usual, all the DJs brought their “A game”. And while thousands of you passed through the gates over the course of the day, Mighty reported no incidents – quite a testament to the respectful, fun-loving crowd we had at BoC this year (way to go, Party People!).

We also managed to collect over 100 pounds of food for the San Francisco Food Bank with the cereal box drive that was held at the main gate (thank you to ShOOey for coordinating that effort).

I want to extend a special thanks to Space Cowboys Managing Partner, Andrea Lundquist. Breakfast of Champions was the culmination of 6 months of hard work and coordination on Andrea’s part that began last summer with our SF ISCOTT hearing. BoC would not be the celebration that it is today without Andrea’s expertise and the solid relationships she has forged with the City of San Francisco, Mighty and the many audio-visual, ticketing, security, on-site medical, food and beverage providers that are crucial to the success of the event.

Andrea is an event manager by trade and you’d be hard pressed to find a better one anywhere on the West Coast. The Space Cowboys are very lucky to have her. Andrea, thank you for everything you do for the Cowboys and our community!

We’d also like to thank these folks for their invaluable contributions to Breakfast of Champions this year:

Join the Space Cowboys as we support the construction of this year’s Burning Man Temple. Designed and led by one of our very own Cowfolk (PK together with Rbca Anders & Jess Hobbs), the Temple of Flux is a product of many people from the sound-camps you know and love, so it’s only natural that they get together to through a party of eh “historic proportions”....

So Tie on those togas, toss on the leafy crowns, strap on the sandals and let’s show the Romans how it’s really done! We’re gonna get down to a clash of the titans, raising funds to help build the Burning Man Temple 2010.

This year’s temple at Burning Man is being designed by Space Cowboy PK together with Jess Hobbs and Rebecca Anders of Flaming Lotus Girl and Fishbug fame. Drawing its inspiration from both the urban canyon and natural ones, the Temple of Flux rises from the playa floor as a series of graceful masses. A new take on a Burning Man tradition, this year’s temple will be one of the largest projects ever conceived for the playa. The Temple of Flux will simultaneously embrace and challenge you, not to mention burn like nothing before it. The Temple of FLUX is being assembled by an unusually broad community of folks and we hope you can join in support.
