Live from Ghost Ship, Episode 2: Kapt'n Kirk
Next from our Ghost Ship recordings is Kapt’n Kirk. He’s a longtimer with Space Cowboys, and if you’ve been to any of our landmark events like the Hoe Down or Breakfast of Champions, you’re familiar with this nutball’s dark and dirty breaks.
Here’s what he had to say about playing Ghost Ship:I’ve now played a good handful of Space Cowboys Halloween parties at this point, so this time I wanted to put something together that would be good party music and would really get the dancefloor rocking. This was also the first time since my very first time playing out that I actually put together my set from start to finish prior to hitting the decks. Though, without working turntables or Cdjs I had no way to practice the set. While in many cases I believe that live mixes should sometimes just be left “on the dance-floor” (not in your car), I was truly stoked to have a live mix that was ready for ready for downloading. All of these tracks are new to me within the last few months. Please enjoy, and I’ll see you all at BOC with some nastier sh#@t to melt yer raving faces off. Blat! Here’s the set list for his mix:
- Hands Up – Benzo, feat Ed Solo Mc Flipside (Stanton Warriors Remix)
- Sewer Gash – Stereo Type
- FunkDation – BSD
- Bouncy – G.T.M

Live from Ghost Ship, Episode 1: rrrus
We’re going to make as many of the Ghost Ship DJ mixes live as we can, starting with this one from Space Cowboy DJ rrrus, who played the closing set in the Desert Island room. He says…
Playing to close is one of my favorite times to play. It gives me a lot of freedom to take a set almost anywhere and send the party people home with my tracks echoing in their ears. Coming out of Shissla, I tried to match his breaks, even trying to give the floor one more kick into the sky before bringing the party back down to the ground. Opening with throbby bangin’ breaks, I then dropped it down a notch into electro and acid house before finally landing in a big chunky funk party. Special thanks to those of you who grooved live in the adventure. You rocked so hard with me.
And here’s what he played…
Hybrid – Higher than a Skyscraper
Stefan Anion – Inferior
LoFi Rebel – Ghetto Music
ILS – Angels
West London Deep – Tongue Tied
Chuck Love – Still Funky
Joel Harrison – Acid Boom
DJ Dan – Chop Shop
Alexkid – Rockin’ Down
Fort Knox Five – Spirit of `75
Neighbour – We Can Dance
Fort Knox Five – Dodge City Rockers
All Good Funk Alliance – NY Funk
All Good Funk Alliance – Superjam
Neighbour – Peaches and Herb
Torpedo Boys – Are You Talkin’ to Me?
Malente – Open Secret
Neighbour – Drunk on the Funk
Pimps of Joytime – Joytime Radio
GHOST SHIP: Shipwrecked on Treasure Island is ON!! 6
EVENT IS SOLD OUT – THANK YOU
<
WE WILL NOT HAVE TICKETS AVAILABLE AT DOORS
Hello Party People!
We hope you have heard the news about the Bay Bridge East Span closure. Here are some facts you should know about:
#1 The party is ON and will be exactly as we have planned it! A majority of the of the event has been completed (you should see the ship!) and all of the vendors and staff can get to the island from San Francisco today. TI traffic is being allowed on at the 2nd & BRYANT ON RAMP IN San Francisco. Muni 108 is running extra buses, and taxis, limos, RVs and cars are allowed on the to the bridge as long as they state their business and destination on TI.
#2 IF… the East Span of the Bridge is not open on Saturday night, you will have the following options:
Teacherbus.com will be hosting a free BIODIESEL shuttle running from civic center plaza (Grove @ Larkin in front of Bill Graham CC) from 9pm-5am.
MUNI 108 buses are running normally and will be running all night. CLICK HERE FOR MUNI 108 SCHEDULE
Taxis will be running all night. Yes. Taxis! Most taxi companies will run to island and have been taking passengers every weekend this month to all events that take place on the island. Fares are standard, the island is less than 5 miles of freeway from downtown SF.
Carpooling is highly encouraged. We have limited parking, and share the island with several business and residencies. All vehicles can enter the island from the on-ramp at 2nd and Bryant. Once on the island you can follow signage to California Avenue and the parking lot for our event. We are safe to assume this option will be available all weekend if and when the bridge reopens.
COMING FROM THE EAST BAY
You have several options.
DRIVING – Traffic is being diverted to the San Mateo Bridge and the Richmond Bridge/Golden Gate Bridges to enter the city. All routes are open to these bridges. Once in SF, make your way to 2nd & Bryant and tell the officer you are headed to Bldg 180 for GHOST SHIP. You will be allowed access to the lower deck of the bridge to drive to Treasure Island.
BARTING Bart will be operating normal hours this weekend (as of 4pm 10/28). You can take BART to Embarcadero Station and walk one block to Mission & Fremont to the Transbay Terminal. Follow signs to the 108 bus (top level inside terminal before midnight, outside terminal on Mission St after midnight) Pay $2 and take the #108 to the first bus stop after the bus turns right onto California Avenue.
You can take BART to Civic Center Station and walk down Grove Street past Larkin and pick up the Teacherbus.com shuttle running from 9pm-5am.
You can also take a cab from any BART station in San Francisco to the island.

at CLICK HERE FOR SUNSET TICKETS
Attendance is limited and this event did sell out last year.
Early bird tickets are selling quickly and are currently $35. We recommended advance tickets, as the unlikelihood of available tickets at the door.
Treasure Island will once again host the night with 12K square feet of space with tons of new and recycled art, mutant vehicles, three themed rooms, and installations high and low. Look for the return of the Dust City Diner, Steampunk Treehouse, The Wagonistas, The Disco Limo, the Playa Flies as well as new installations from Rockit, the The DodoBus, and stroboscopic love of Pete Hudson’s Humoroborus.
Headlining the event are special guests:
KRAAK & SMAAK (dj set by Kneuppelhaut & DelaSarge)
FORT KNOX 5 (2×4set with Jonh and Thunderball)
The Bay Area premier of SILENT DISCO transmitted from the heart of the DJ directly to your soul (via headphones).
We are screaming in anticipation for the return of Space Cowboy DJs:
8ball, Brad Robinson, Mancub, Kapt’n Kirk, rrrus, shOOey, Shissla, and Deckard
The Deep End DJs: Zach Moore, Clarkie, Kramer and Aaron Pope
Brass Tax hooligans: Ding Dong, Mace, JoeJoe and Ernie Trevino
SEISMIC superstars: Trav & Murphstar
And on the Silent Disco DJ MOTION POTION & Ground Control (TRBL)
Teacherbus.com will be hosting a free BIODIESEL shuttle running from civic center plaza (Grove @ Larkin) all night. Parking is free but limited and carpooling is encouraged. The Muni 108 bus runs all night long to the island from the transbay terminal.
This is a 21+ event and all guests will be asked for ID and secured bags. We will have several full bars, ATM, coat check, a water Oasis station by the Psychic Taxi crew, lights by reFRACTion.net, sound by F:SOUND and more restrooms, a tented outdoor areas and special surprises through out the night. It may be a grungy warehouse where you have to peel off your costume in the portopotties, but it is how we roll and hopefully you do, too!
We look forward to sharing the SHIPWRECK with you on Halloween!!
