Breakfast of Champions, 2010 - Same time, same good friends, new location: Kelly's Mission Rock! 2

Posted by 8Ball Tue, 27 Oct 2009 18:24:00 GMT

On Jan 1st, 2010, Breakfast of Champions will be at Kelly’s Mission Rock!

That’s right, after something like 10 years on Florida Street – first at Potrero Brewing Company, later at Whisper – we’re moving Breakfast of Champions to a new venue, and we need YOUR help getting the word out.

When you’re in the same place for as long as we were, people don’t expect you to ever leave, and by now we’re guessing there’s a significant portion of people who just magically arrive at BoC on automatic pilot. What we’re hoping is that word of this move will spread like a like the latest internet meme, and when 6am rolls around on Jan 1st, 2010, all our good friends are happy and safe at Kelly’s. We don’t want to hear about poor inebriated souls staring hopelessly at the boarded up windows and locked doors of the old Whisper location.

So here’s the sound bite that you can spread to your friends: BoC is at Kelly’s this year! Don’t go to Whisper, it’s closed!

In related news, we’re selling tickets in advance through Eventbrite this year. The ticket is the same price, plus a small service charge, but people who buy in advance will get to enter in the shorter, faster, pre-paid ticket line.

GHOST SHIP: Shipwrecked on Treasure Island 1

Posted by Andrea Tue, 27 Oct 2009 16:30:00 GMT

The Space Cowboys and Sunset Promotions are proud to present the second annual GHOSTSHIP: Shipwrecked on Treasure Island on October 31, 2009.

Doors open at 9pm
Limited presale tickets are available for purchase here
at CLICK HERE FOR SUNSET TICKETS
Attendance is limited and this event did sell out last year. Early bird tickets are selling quickly and are currently $35. We recommended advance tickets, as the unlikelihood of available tickets at the door.

Treasure Island will once again host the night with 12K square feet of space with tons of new and recycled art, mutant vehicles, three themed rooms, and installations high and low. Look for the return of the Dust City Diner, Steampunk Treehouse, The Wagonistas, The Disco Limo, the Playa Flies as well as new installations from Rockit, the The DodoBus, and stroboscopic love of Pete Hudson’s Humoroborus.

Headlining the event are special guests:
KRAAK & SMAAK (dj set by Kneuppelhaut & DelaSarge)
FORT KNOX 5 (2×4set with Jonh and Thunderball)
The Bay Area premier of SILENT DISCO transmitted from the heart of the DJ directly to your soul (via headphones).

We are screaming in anticipation for the return of Space Cowboy DJs:
8ball, Brad Robinson, Mancub, Kapt’n Kirk, rrrus, shOOey, Shissla, and Deckard
The Deep End DJs: Zach Moore, Clarkie, Kramer and Aaron Pope
Brass Tax hooligans: Ding Dong, Mace, JoeJoe and Ernie Trevino
SEISMIC superstars: Trav & Murphstar
And on the Silent Disco DJ MOTION POTION & Ground Control (TRBL)

Teacherbus.com will be hosting a free BIODIESEL shuttle running from civic center plaza (Grove @ Larkin) all night. Parking is free but limited and carpooling is encouraged. The Muni 108 bus runs all night long to the island from the transbay terminal.

This is a 21+ event and all guests will be asked for ID and secured bags. We will have several full bars, ATM, coat check, a water Oasis station by the Psychic Taxi crew, lights by reFRACTion.net, sound by F:SOUND and more restrooms, a tented outdoor areas and special surprises through out the night. It may be a grungy warehouse where you have to peel off your costume in the portopotties, but it is how we roll and hopefully you do, too!

We look forward to sharing the SHIPWRECK with you on Halloween!!

10th annual Breakfast of Champions, presented by the Space Cowboys

Posted by 8Ball Sat, 17 Oct 2009 18:37:14 GMT

It started 10 years ago as an after party to the infamous Space Cowboy NYE parties held at the SF Motorcycle Club. Today we all know it as that halfway point to the playa and the place to see everyone you know in San Francisco in the same place with a metric shit-ton of your favorite local DJs and then some. Moving to a new venue this year, BOC will be held at Kelly’s Mission Rock and as always starts at 6AM on New Years Day 2010 and goes until you (which we all know now is ‘we’) cry Uncle!

This year will be our biggest yet!! We hope to raise over $25,000. (Last year Beats for Boobs raised over $16,800 for the breast cancer cause). How are we doing this? With YOU, YOU, AND YOU!

We’re very excited to be hosting the event on a Friday this year for the very first time.

Beyond the four walls of our home away from home, 111 Minna, we are hosting an array of entertainment and performances in the Minna alley which we will be taking over in full this year also for the first time!

Loads of FOOD, EDUCATIONAL GAMES, FASHION, ART and BEATS to boot for the boobie!

Please take a minute to peruse and join (if you haven’t already) our fan page at http://www.facebook.com/beatsforboobs. You can see photos from past years, videos, and loads of detail and updates as to this year’s goals and event details. We also have a list of the organizations to whom funds will go from this 100% volunteer and charitable event!

“GREEN IS THE NEW PINK” is our theme this year! Knowing that environmental toxins are one of the leading causes of disease, cancer, birth defects, asthma, and reproductive harm, Beats for Boobs will help educate people on how to reduce exposure in their own lives and live at a higher level of health & wellness. The best cure for breast cancer is prevention.
