Adv ticket sales for BoC ending, plus A.Skillz & Slyde at Mezzanine (after BoC party!)

Posted by 8Ball Wed, 29 Dec 2010 22:28:00 GMT

Hello Friendlies:

Breakfast of Champions is just days away. We’ve had a great response to advance ticket sales, so much so that we’re going to have to end them soon in order to ensure the willcall lines don’t get totally gummed up at the event. We’re going to stop selling advance tickets today at 8pm (PST!).

If you or your friends didn’t buy a ticket, you’ll still be able to get in by paying at the door, but it will be $25 instead of the $20 advance price.

So again, you can purchase an advance ticket here until 8pm. After that you’ll pay at the door.

ALSO, in case you hadn’t heard the rather LARGE news—A.Skillz and Slyde will be playing the Breakfast of Champions after-party over at Mezzanine, starting at 9pm. Read below for more info, or check out Facebook

Saturday, January 1st, 2011 – A.Skillz Bombs the Bay with Slyde! at Mezzanine
Sunset Promotions & Space Cowboys join forces to slyde into the New Year with some serious skillz. That’s right, UK electronic phenoms A.Skillz and Slyde will be headlining Mezzanine on Saturday, January 1, joined by the hardcore post-BOC crew for an intense dancefloor rundown.

No one combines old school musical taste and technique with nuskool production like A.Skillz. This is his first SF appearance in more than TWO YEARS, but Adam Mills’ music has not been absent. A.Skillz cuts and remixes are in heavy rotation in the sets of every major American midtempo DJ, including huge play of both his Beatles remixes by bay area fave Bassnectar. A staple of Fingerlickin and Bombstrikes, his blend of hip hop, big beat, and break beat bass lines have made him THE STANDARD by which all other bangermakers are judged.

After A.Skillz we won’t stand still for long as Slyde hits the decks. There are few electronic producers who have had more success in the past few years than the UK duo known as Slyde. In the past few years, Slyde’s releases have moved them ahead of the pack and into rare territory. Recent releases like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Move Ya Body, and the latest grenade Russian Girls are Dangerous have kept them near or at the top of many a breakbeat and electro chart.

Saturday, January 22 – 6th annual ICEBREAKERS BALL at Mighty
The Fringe Arts Collective and Sunset Promotions, the crews that undress tradition with their Freqo de Mayo, Freaksgiving and Faux Years events are aiming to chase away winter’s wicked ways with a celebration of the breakbeat in all its forms. For the 6th straight year, Orlando breaks legend DJ Icey rocks Mighty and chases away the cold with a torrent of Florida swamp gas. The oldschool, hip hop-centric, “original breaks” will be provided Motion Potion and the Space Cowboys’ 8Ball. Special guests DJ Icon, Eva (LA) and Dulce Vita make sure that the ladies have their say. The Janky Barge will be represented by Victor Vega, Tim Dietz, Mycho Cocoa, Absurge, U9Lift, and Ground Control doing everything from electro to dubstep.. Mighty will again be converted into a Winter wonderland, where parka-dressed participants, heat up the room and strip down to their bare minimums.

Known as the “King of the Funky Breaks,” Orlando native, DJ Icey, began his spinning career with a residency at the now defunct club, the Edge. Thought to be one of the hardest working DJs in America, Icey’s nonstop touring ethic gave him plenty of time to pioneer funky breaks and launch his remix-producer career. He also made history by convincing the then unknown Chemical Brothers to play their first U.S. show on July 4th, 1993, at the Edge. Sometimes packed with breakdancers, B-boys, Ravers, Club Kids, Suburban and even Inner-city kids, the dance floor is always an eclectic group, brought together by Icey’s unique breaks. With the release of his “Essential Mix – mixed by DJ ICEY,” on his own label, Zone Records, Icey follows in the footsteps of dj greats such as Pete Tong, Fatboy Slim, and Paul Oakenfold.

DJ Icey (www.djicey.com, System Recordings, Zone records, Essential Mix- FL), Motion Potion (myspace.com/motionpotion), DJ Icon (Illeven Eleven), Dulce Vita (Opulent Temple), 8Ball ( Space Cowboys), Victor Vega, Tim Dietz, Mycho Cocoa, Absurge, Ground Control, U9Lift

Mighty will be a winter wonderland Wear your winter-white, to be stripped off into summer sexy

8Ball on the RIPECast, from Ghost Ship 2010:
“Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. It brings out sides of people you don’t get to see everyday. Creative sides, dark sides, funny sides, and-based on some of the costumes I saw at Ghost Ship-a lot of you folks have extremely slutty sides, too.
