Boo, Bitches! 1

Boo Friendly Person:

The Space Cowboy Halloween party is right around the corner, but if you’re anything like me (busy-busy-busy), you haven’t had a chance to put together your costume yet. Since going out in street clothes is lame, and staying home tomorrow night is not an option, I thought I’d share with you the reliable idea that never fails—it is to costumes what a booty call is to getting laid, a guaranteed back-up fuck that won’t let you down: The Zombie.

Zombies are simple, instantly recognizable, and if you really think about it, Zombie costumes can be more versatile than a roll of duct tape. You could be a New Zombie, an Old Zombie, a Raver Zombie, a Hooker Zombie, a Burner Zombie, a Cheerleader Zombie, a Cop Zombie, an Inbred Zombie, an Office Zombie, Gangsta Zombie, a Super Hero Zombie, or just a I Was Gonna Donate This Old Leisure Suit to Good-will But Instead I’m Using It As a Costume Zombie.

Walk around grunting a lot. Like you’re hungover, or horny beyond the ability to speak. “Grraaaghafffaggah!” Every once in a while say something like, “Brains,” or “More Brains,” if you just ate some but want a second serving. Or say, “I like turtles!” Whatever, as long as you stagger and grunt and look like the living dead, you’re basically doing it right. Zombies are heroes at accessorizing: If you have a spare prosthetic to carry around, gore-up the amputated part, make it look nasty, and carry it around, taking bites once in a while. A severed head is always a hit parties. Really, any body part would look good. Make sure to only order red drinks at the bar, like Cape Cods, Cosmos, and anything with cran, or Sangria, and of course Bloody Marys.

Once you get your Zombified-self together, get into character and stay that way. When you head to our party at Temple on Saturday, make sure to terrorize the people on MUNI or walking on the street. Remember, they’re just food to you. And when you’re finished, they’ll be Zombies, too. (In that manner, the spread of Zombism isn’t all that different from many religions.)

Fresh from the Playa this Friday!

Posted by 8Ball Wed, 05 Sep 2007 18:58:00 GMT

Hello Friendly Cocksucker:

Hey, sorry if this announcement is a bit surly—the aggro glow of Black Sabbath Pancakes still hasn’t worn off, I haven’t gotten used to brushing my teeth with toothpaste instead of tequila yet, I’m still suffering from the playa-lag weariness that results from spending my sleeping hours in a virtual sweat lodge, and my interpersonal skills are on par with those of a schoolyard bully. We had a Metric Fuck Ton™ of fun out there this year, and amazingly I’m already missing all our friends and family from the playa. To help ease our reintegration into the real world, this month’s version of our monthly party Fresh will be a 1 week reunion, where we coach each other on the social skills and etiquette that might’ve been left behind on the playa, swap stories of misery and carnage from the Exodus, or just get hammered:

This Friday, September 7th – FRESH FROM THE PLAYA @ SHINE Music by Space Cowboy DJs Brad Robinson, Mancub and 8ball Come in your dusty playa gear! Shine – 1337 Mission Street $5 / 9 – 2 www.shinesf.com

Not Another Fracking Playa Schedule 1

Posted by 8Ball Fri, 24 Aug 2007 21:26:00 GMT

Hello Friendly Person:

For the last couple days I’ve been getting schedules fired at me from DJs and theme camps so I’ll be sure not to miss single soul enriching moment on the playa.

It’s like Burning Man has become a multi-tracked convention, I’m not saying it’s necessarily a bad thing, but I have noticed that I’m stressed out. I’ve started an email folder just to hold onto all the reminders, schedules, lists, do not misses, that I’ve received. Next year we’ll all just load the whole playa schedule into Outlook and carry it around on PDAs. If in the future when BM finally stops changing year to year, Lonely Planet could get around to publishing the definitive tourist guide to BRC’s playa hot spots, corridors of bohemian charm, and hidden hoods “where the arty kids hang-out”.

Personally, I like the random shit. Maybe more than anything else. There are so many severely demented synchronous little scenes that just magically happen, like when a bunch of us were ridin’ dirty along the esplanade in Martha, and got pinned down under a barrage of fire from a pants cannon, and just before we could retreat someone pointed out that Adz had been abducted by some twisted game show, and before we could get him back on board the show host double-dog-dared him to publicly smear a handful of wasabi on his junk, which he did right before he started crying like a little girl. Only at Burning Man, man. There’s definitely value in the planned happenings, but never in a million years would anyone plan to put wasabi on their junk. Not planning is when the magic happens. (Unless you’re a stoner, in which case you probably never leave camp, you lazy buttholes.)

So, with that off my chest, I’ll now proceed to provide you, Friendly Person, with a list of Space Cowboy events and happenings that you will only ignore at the risk of your everlasting salvation, happiness, and enlightenment. Forget God, forget prayer, forget meditation—this is your one and only chance to get to heaven by attending all these events. Some of these events might overlap or be at the same time. That’s not my problem. If you can’t figure out how to be in two places at the same time perhaps you’re not worthy of salvation anyway.
