New minimal + electro mix from 8ball
Rayna from the Modyfier Modifying blog always finds these incredibly deep, textured slices of minimal and electro sound, which I’ve been collecting for a while. At some point I realized I needed to mix some of my favorites, and I just finished up over the weekend.

Upcoming Events
Hello Friendly Person:
This is going to have to be a short announcement this time. I’ve been bouncing around more than a one-legged man in an ass-kickin’ contest, but there are so many outrageous events coming up, I didn’t want you to have to wait on me to find time to write something funny. The main thing is MARK YOUR CALENDARS for June 1st and then start resting up, eat your Wheaties, and drink your OJ, because between the June edition of Fresh, hosted by Evinrude and Pure Evil, and then Get Freaky, with Space Cowboys in the front-room and Cut Chemist & Bassnectar in the main room, it’s going to be a looong, sweaty, funky-ass night!

Friday, May 18 – MIGHTY BREAKS with NICK THAYER
Join Mighty Breaks on Friday May 18th to rock out to Australia’s funkiest new Breaks master, Nick Thayer! Nick Thayer is responsible for the remix of 2006’s biggest breaks track “Feeling Kinda Strange” and has played alongside the ranks of the Plump DJs, Soul of Man, and Stanton Warriors as a future name to watch in breaks.
Joining him is our favorite OC rocker Simply Jeff. Simple is no way to describe our friend from soCal, we have been shaking our money makers to Jeff’s tracks for years as he has progressed from funky house to scratchin’ breaks to funk hitting the fan. Jeff is just as fun to watch in action as well as to dance to, with a flair and fanfare not found in many DJs.
Local rockstars supporting: Murphstar, Aaron Pope, Raydeus, Emerge, Malarkey

Saturday, June 16 – FUNRAZOR with KID KINOBI
Oh SNAP!!! It’s once again fundraiser season, and Aaron Jae, Evinrude, and Robb Green are teaming up to form a new group that plans to bring you a couple of funrazors instead. For our first endeavor together, we’ve got Australia’s #1 dj comin back to SF for another show, and this time it’s goin to be at a little underground spot in SOMA. The venue is on the smaller side, so we will be limiting attendance. You might want to consider showing up early to ensure your entrance to the show.
Featuring:
Kid Kenobi
(Ministry of Sound/The Bump/Cr2) – Australia
He’s Australia’s favorite DJ. Officially. Reigning champion of Australia’s premier DJ poll – The TechnicsInTheMix 50 – for three years running, it’s obvious who’s leading the charge. This poll has only been running for three years, which means Kid Kenobi has so far been the only number one. Voted for by the general public, the results of this poll reflect the feelings of a nation.
Plus local shredders:
Mancub (Space Cowboys / NetAmp), Mozaic (Nexus / Raindance), Aaron Jae (Evil Breaks / XM / Space Cowboys), Evinrude (Space Cowboys / Stimulus / NetAmp), Robb Green (Shameless)
Location TBA
$10 all night, 11pm-7am, 21+

Hello Friendly Person:
Normally when I omit an event from the announcement, I figure it just wasn’t meant to be. But once in a while I am compelled to retrace my steps and make the world right. And that is the case today, because the not only is the event I spaced an landmark opportunity for the community to come together under the banner of peace, joy and happiness, but (perhaps more importantly) it’s also an event I happen to be playing! That’s right—it’s another big opportunity to see ME, so don’t blow it! (Thanks to shOOey for catching my flub…) – 8b
