This week’s intro comes courtesy of Shissla/Shizzy/Shissler/whatever you want to call him…it’s his CHEEKY CAMERA STORY from BM 2010 (plus an aside from Miyagi).

So, I bought a brand new camera pre-playa of the point and shoot variety. It was working awesome, except I lost it after 4 days.
Fast forward to 3 days later, I’m randomly sitting on Martha next to Justin and he’s looking at photos on a camera…says ‘shizz, you look great getting thrown through the saloon doors in this shot’. I say ‘yeah man, wish I had the photos we took on my camera. He sez ‘really? I have no idea who’s camera this is’. Yup. Mine.
Fast forward to the hoe down. Justin and I steal all of Ding Dong’s Malibu from his ungarded art car (his bad), and start serving it to everyone at the hoe down bar and posing with them for pictures us and everyone else (our bad or good, depending on your perspective). All the craziness ensues, great hoe down. I try a running dismount while peddaling my bike onto Rosebud the art car and fail. Twice. The third time works. Surely my camera falls out? No. USS Malibu shows up at our camp and the ‘gay sex on bow con fire extinguisher’ scene commences. I video it. I think. Kinda. Somewhere saloon doors move.

< START ASIDE FROM MIYAGI >
Lemme clarify that bit on Martha for you there Shizzzz…..It was you and Justin and myself. Justin was going through the pockets on his jacket and was like…. “There’s something heavy in here…. No idea what it is though..” and pulls out a camera.
You thought it was awesome that somehow someone had left a camera in his pocket, and we laughed a bit about that and started going through the photos to see if we could figure out whose it was…..
Now here’s the beauty part…..
Three or four photos in, you actually said, “You know, I had a camera like that once.”
Somehow I just assumed “once” meant like a year ago or so….... But no, you actually meant like 18 hours earlier.
After like four more photos which were conspicuously full of you, you were like, “Hey….....that IS my camera.”
At which point Justin and I irrigated the playa with streams of Jameson from our nostrils.

Fast forward to the day after the hoe down (and pretty much all of breakdown/cleanup). Camera lost again. Everyone is so helpful in trying to find it. Thanks again for your efforts.
Fast forward to tonight. Finish playing a charity event with Jenny and Andrea, get home and get a ‘you’ve been tagged in a photo’ note from Facebook. Go to the photo, it’s me and another DJ (Keith Mackinze) at a party and the caption below the photo says ‘I found this camera in my stuff after burning man, I don’t know who it belongs to’. I respond ‘it’s me…it’s me call me at…’. She calls. Reunited and it feels so lucky.
Really.
I did not know this girl that found my camera who was kind enough and thoughtful enough to post (unincriminating) photos of total strangers on FB with a call to help return the camera to it’s owner…but she’s bringing the camera to us at Decom this weekend :)
