Howdy Space Cowboy Friends, Family and Lovers!
Holy cowboys, there are some amazing events going on in the next
month. First, let us congratulate you all for making it a majority of
the way through the official Burning Man Fundraiser Season. It starts
earlier every year, but sometimes it ends earlier. And then there are
the years where there are events into October and November to try and
recoup what was overspent on the annual desert migration. I'm
surprised no one has capitalized on 8ball's idea a few years back of a
season pass for all the major fundraisers. But the projects, camps,
art cars and installations get bigger and better every year. Which
means their budgets follow accordingly.
The Space Cowboys are shaping up to have a tight knit rock star crew
to parade around with the Unimog in the dust. Yes, we will have a
playa schedule and yes, you may have to guess where we end up and yes,
we will be somewhere you don't expect. But you can rely on the Space
Cowboy's Black Rock City Hoe Down, Sunrise sets, Lingerie Parties, Day
parties, and hopefully Black Sabbath somewhere.
We're rounding into the home stretch of summer and it is time all of
you fence sitters make up your mind about Burning Man. I myself am
sticking to my guns as I left the playa last year screaming "I'm never
coming back here again!!" But then you get a ticket and an amazing
offer or two to just show up and hang out. No really, you won't have
to work. I have a place in my RV! Just come for Weds-Friday! The
offers get better and better the older and more veteran you become at
this black rock city amusement park. So my vehemently opposed opinion
of no way jose just turned to a well maybe. It could go either way.
It is quite an interesting debate in my head, as I'm sure others have
the same voices echoing in their ears.
Enjoy the events this month. From sand castles to secret dinners,
rocket ships and oil spills, there are plenty of opportunities for you
to shake it with the cowboys and the Unimog before you head to Nevada.
xxAndrea

SECRET KITCHEN
This month, Secret Kitchen is preparing a meal in honor of and as a
benefit for the Temple of Flux , and the Flux Foundation
(www.temple2010.org)! Specifically, we are preparing a meal in order
to raise the necessary funds to feed the volunteers who are taking
months out of their lives (not to mention blood, sweat, tears,
swearing, bruising, etc) to create a Sacred Space for the denizens of
Burning Man. All proceeds from the dinner go to food and other cooking
related things for the volunteers out on the playa. This build is
going to take THREE WEEKS, which is a lot of volunteers and a LOT of
food! This is kinda like our own little “bake sale” so I can do our
duty (and the thing I love) by cooking for artists.
Date: July 30th, 2010
Time: 7:30pm
Location: Somewhere in Oakland ! Details upon RSVP and payment!
(that’s the “secret” part!)
Price: $50-500 sliding scale (remember, this is a benefit!)
