[SpaceCowboys-Announce] Not all DJs are created equal (Upcoming events: Nightlife on Thurs, Nightlife-after party, and more!)

Space Cowboys Announcements announce at spacecowboys.org

Hello Friendly Person

About that last email... It wasn't supposed to go to you, it was meant for the Space Cowboy DJs. See, we've got a
big cluster of DJs in our outfit, and in addition to the Space Cowboy
events that we do, they're all also playing different gigs around town. I do the public service of sending out their gigs with these occasional
announcements, and before I do I put out a call to get everyone's gig
info. All of our Space Cowboys DJs are fantastic behind the decks, but
when it comes to little things like keeping track of their gigs or even
just knowing what year it is, well... let's just say not all DJs are
created equal.

When I put out a call for event info, it's not
uncommon to get a reply with absolutely no text in the message body,
just a jpeg attachment of some wacked out flyer with wavy fonts and no
details besides the date since the DJ forgot to include the backside
with the details. Sometimes I get text messages that say, "dud im playng in the missh this week, pls post!" I'm sure some other DJs are
wondering why I never post the events they send me telepathically.

So now you know how the Space Cowboy sausage gets made. I hope that
doesn't turn you off from coming to one or all of the great events we
have coming up, like NIGHTLIFE at the Academy of Science in Golden Gate
Park, tomorrow night! See you there!

XO,
H8B

Friday, April 9 - The VIVID 8 Year Anniversary Birthday Party @ WISH
Featuring Marty Gotera (Germany / Sassafras) & Mancub (Space Cowboys)

8 years ago a small neighborhood bar opened it's door in a not so small
neighborhood surrounded by some of the biggest clubs in the city. But
what it lacked in size it easily made up for in atmosphere & vibe.
The amazing couple that opened WISH, who just happen to be two of the
coolest people you could ever hope to meet, poured their heart &
soul into making WISH a place that not only felt like home, but had some of the best bartenders serving some of the best drinks, and DJs that
embraced an underground music culture.

DJs Seven & Sol made a commitment to WISH way back then to throw some of the best free parties twice a month at this little neighborhood bar and inviting down the
some of the city's most talented DJs into play. The end result is 8
f-ing years of good times, good friends and good music.

This
Friday it all goes down as we welcome back 2 of our favorite guests.
First up is one of the very first guest DJs to play VIVID way back in
2002, Marty Gotera (Sassafras), who is back from Germany for this
special occasion. Not many DJs have a record collection as deep and
diverse as Marty, and he's not afraid to dig deep into the bins to find
that ultra rare track to get the party started. Then headlining it like
no one else can is the one and only Mancub (Space Cowboys). Known for
rocking sets at some of the biggest events, especially Burning Man, this Nitevibe top 10 Dream Team'er is going to bring it home with his
signature sound and boxing gloves to boot! …and of course sandwiched
right in the middle is Seven & Sol with a special birthday set as
the each of them will celebrate their birthdays too. Go Aries!

So come celebrate 8 Years of VIVID this Friday! It all starts at 10pm
right after the world famous Flavasauce Happy Hour featuring Reggie,
Dave Mak, Fredness, JZ and Justin Case! :-) http://www.flavasauce.com/

"Holy f***.
Ten years of Breakfast of Champions ---> http://www.facebook.com/l/fcf12;bit.ly/cMChMN

The most amazing
dancing institution of SF. This was my 7th to DJ. An honor, a privilege, and what a motherf***ing blow out! I came to BOC 2010 ready to play the mid-tempo breaky funk, but stepping up to the tables while a Brad
Robinson dancefloor was in full effect forcedmore desperate measures.
Out comes the spankin' house. The crowd goes wild. What a gas!! - rrrus"

Here's what happened:
1. Cuban Cigar - Da Skunk
2. Just F**k (Sandy W
Remix) - Tom Neville
3. Ride Me Baby - Macca
4. Lightness - Vince G
5. Noize (Nilz remix) - Gabriel vs. Nilz

Soul of Man on the
Gough Street Sessions

It may take a few extra seconds for the
page to load. But this is a killer mix courtesy of our man Justin. You
guys may have already have this. Justin dropped it in my inbox a couple
days ago and asked me to help get it out to folks. I'm guessing he
probably already reached out to several others in our crew, including
you.

Of course my first instinct was to put this out on the
RIPEcast but we already have a compleletly full schedule until early May and I just didn't think it would be fair to put Justin's mix out ahead
of people who have been waiting patiently since January to have their
BoC sets posted. There is also the issue of busting through our
bandwidth limit for the month of April if we were to add an extra mix
from someone as well known as Justin (although we're in good shape as
bandwidth goes at the moment).

And of course my little podcast,
which has been dwarfed by the RIPEcast since she was born, could use the exposure.

I was planning to do a Facebook update from our fan pages later in the week with the box.net link to Justin's mix. But I
think it's a good idea to wait a day or two beacause I don't want Russ
to feel upstaged (we just released his BoC set today), you know?

1. Directly from Box.net: http://bit.ly/SOM-breakin-in-the-house

2. Or by subscribing to the Gough Street Sessions: http://bit.ly/goughstreet-iTunes (this is optional. You don't have to
use this if you don't want)
