Hello Friendly Person:
(Warning: This week's announcement is hella geeky. It
contains references to Doctor Who, Star Trek, Jessica
Alba and alternate realities.)
Ever get the feeling that we're just living the
prologue to an episode of Doctor Who? Like we're just
waiting around for the Tardis to materialize in the
middle of Market Street; the Doctor would step out and
sniff the air then say, "Something has gone terribly
wrong with the timeline." Like the episode of Star
Trek that Phillip Roth jacked for his last book, where
Nazis won instead of lost, and everything else in the
world that followed sucks syphilitic donkey tube.
Doctor Who would tell us that, yes, around the time of
the 2000 elections aliens did silently invade, and
they've been covertly bodysnatching us one by one ever
since. That explains how the vast majority of the
world's wealthiest nation (does debt count as wealth?)
spends their free time watching the MTV Movie awards
(though, Jessica Alba: Inspired choice for hosting),
while their army trounces the globe like single-minded
Daleks (Doctor Who's trashcan-bot nemesissies),
hollering "Exterminate! Exterminate!" Upon seeing the
state of things, the Doctor would pull out his sonic
screwdriver and get to work fixing. Then history and
the world would be as it should-Kennedy would've
termed out with his brain intact within his cranium;
Tupac and Biggie's EastWest records would dwarf
Deathrow and Bad Boy, Condi would be the nation's
first black lesbian president and Ann Coulter would be
the First Lady. And some things wouldn't need to
change; George W. would still be the funniest mother
fucker in the country (that guy cracks me up!), but
his brilliant wit and timing would make him Comic
Relief's perennial favorite, and with co-creator Larry
David, the sitcom Bush would be the highest rated show
in history. We'd still have Burning Man, but it'd be a
paid holiday, and include recovery days the week
after. Breaks wouldn't change at all, check to that.
And don't worry, our deloused reality would also have
the Mog, but all the work and improvements currently
underway would already be complete, and all the
funding required to realize said improvements would've
be taken care of by the federal government's National
Endowment for Fuck Yeah.
At this point we're stuck waiting for the Tardis.
Until it arrives, we'll be working on the Mog, and
we'll keep planning fundraiser activities to pay for
the Mog upgrades. Not to get all Pledge Break on you,
but aside from the upcoming parties (July 7th is the
BIG fundraiser see below), if you're of a mind to
help out, might I also direct your attention to the
Paypal link on our site (or use
paypal at spacecowboys.org) - if you can spare it, the
Mog could use it. So, who's up for some Dungeons &
Dragons?
XO,
8ball at spacecowboys.org
