Hello Friendly Person:
I love breaks, I love jungle, I'm simpatico with
house, and I don't love trance, I mostly fucking hate
trance, but my point still applies to trance,
way-applies, so I'll include it, too. (That's 4 trance
mentions, including this one, if anyone besides Mrs.
H8Ball is counting -- she'll probably spank me for
each mention -- what's your excuse.) But all those
flavors of music have something in common that bugs
the heck out of me. Whether dancing, driving, running,
biking, working or loafing, a good dj mix is where
it's at--until the Breakdown. There you are, giggin
along to beats so hard and fast your eyes are
literally starting to bleed, when all of a sudden,
"SSSSSHHHHH. It's the Breakdown. Nobody move. Put your
feet back on the floor. YOU! Stop dancing, it's the
Breakdown I said!" If you're at a party, maybe you'll
be lucky enough to have a drummer nearby to help
smooth the transition into narcalepsy, but if you're
sitting at home, good night. I'm not saying that a
proper build up in the middle of a thizzed out (hey,
check me out, I'm hyphying!) dancefloor doesnt give
me chills now and then, but does every track have to
ghostride the beat?! I'm just saying, if it's a dance
track and it has a slamming beat, let the beat roll,
and if the kids need a break let them take it on their
own time. Shit. And don't be telling me, "A good dj
can fix it in the mix." I buy vinyl with a 7-minute
track don't make me mix out after 3 minutes just
because you sampled some Samuel Jackson speech from
Pulp Fiction where he talks about fucking shit up. If
I want to listen to Samuel Jackson I'll stay home with
Netflix. Just let the beat roll, man.
XO,

Saturday, June 3rd - ROCK PAPER SCISSORS TOURNEMENT
(Healdsburg, CA)
It's almost time for the fourth annual Southwest
Pro-Am Rock, Paper, Scissors Championship. On June
3rd, 2006, players from both near and far will descend
on Roshambo Winery in hopes of scoring a slice of the
$1700 pie. Last year's tourney was earmarked by
Newsweek magazine as a "Pick of the Week" and became
the biggest in U.S. history. And as word circulates
about the insane fun to behold at our offbeat winery,
we expect an even larger turnout this year.
If you get eliminated early, you can always hang out
and dance to the Space Cowboy DJ Mancub & Baby Ryan
(www.gunclub.dj) or two running the decks all day.
Roshambo Winery 3000 West Side Rd., Healdsburg, CA
$20 Competitor, $10 Spectator

Saturday, July 7th - UNIMOG NEEDS A NEW PAIR OF SHOES
Fundraiser
(Well, a new pair of subs at least.) The Cowboys are
busy little ranch hands these days, roping metal and
wrangling new speakers in the quest to make BRCs
favorite peregrine playa party platform Mog 2.0. We'll
be throwing a special fundraiser at Mighty with Space
Cowboy DJs plus guests Simply Jeff and Miyagi. So SAVE
THE DAMN DATE!
