Hello Friendly Person:

You ever have one of those moments in life where you
find out that the thing you always thought of one way
is really not that way at all, and is in fact the
exact opposite? For example, until the movies actually
came out, I assumed that The Matrix Reloaded and
Revolutions would be the coolest things I'd ever seen,
then Reloaded came out, I went to the theater, and
walked out a broken man. I didn't even seen
Revolutions until it hit video, and even then I had to
throw back several stiff drinks before I could bring
myself to hit play. Same goes for Star Wars Ep 1 and
Ep 2. Fuck's sake, it's a wonder I didn't swallow a
bottle of Oxycontin with a Absolut chaser the moment
Jar Jar spat his first Meesa. Jayson Blair, WMDs in
Iraq, Milli Vanilli; the list goes on. And now, here
I'm again teetering on the edge of self-ahnilation
after learning the truth about Memorial Day. All this
time, I'd been thinking that Memorial Day was a
national time to honor that which is most important in
the lives of Americans; bar-be-ques and summer
blockbusters. But this morning I'm listening to the
radio and I hear that ACTUALLY, Memorial Day has
nothing to do with bar-be-ques or summer blockbusters.
ACTUALLY, Memorial Day is not a day to eat, drink and
be merry, it a day when we're supposed to think about
dead people, and not just any dead people, but the
very dead people who made all the bar-be-queing and
summer blockbusters possible. How fucking ironic! How
depressing! How tragic! How the hell am I supposed to
enjoy my Memorial Day tri-tip now?

Here are some events going on before and after
Memorial Day where enjoying yourself won't have to be
a guilty pleasure.

xo,

Sunday May 30th - Carnival
>From the hot pink desk of Space Cowgirl Andrea
Loinquest:
"Everyone is invited to rock it out early AM style
this Sunday!!

The Unimog is going to be featured in the SF Carnaval
Parade. We are providing the sound for the King &
Queen's float as well as the Aquarela dance
troupe....think Vegas with better tans, more
rhinestones, and money makers ala Copacabana

The staging area is on Bryant & between 20th & Cesar
Chavez. We will not have any DJs playing, but Cowboys
will be present to represent.

And for you lazy-ass cowpokes that can't make it out
of bed, please be so
kind to set your VCRs, TiVo or DVDrs for either KRON-4
or TELEMUNDO. The
parade is being broadcast at 9:30AM and we are 15th in
line, which means we
should be on in the first hour."

Saturday June 5th - 2004 Southwestern US.
Rock-Paper-Scissor Pro-Am Invitational

Did you know that the Space Cowboys have long been
fans of eXtreme sports? For example, many of us
participate in an annual fully-eXtreme endurance
contests in which mind, body and spirit is confronted
head-on, where the balance between success and failure
hangs by a thread, where risk to life and limb lurks
at every turn. Of course I'm talking about Burning
Man, or should I say Burning Man Xtreme!? But aside
from being forces to be reckoned with on the playa,
Man contestants, did you also know that the Space
Cowboys are additionally dangerous in the
Rock-Paper-Scissors area? Oh yeah, we're good. Better
than you. Don't think so? Come try your hand (Get it?!
'Hand'?!) at the somethingth or otherth annual
Southwestern US. Rock-Paper-Scissor Pro-Am
Invitational. We're bringing the Unimog and a few
Space Cowboy DJs to provide the eXtreme booty-shaking
beats for all your smashing, wrapping and cutting.

Ask your mommy if you can borrow the Volvo, because
this event is being held about 75 miles north, up the
101, at ever-tasteful and incredibly tasty Roshambo
Winery. It's a gorgeous drive, worth every mile, and
if you haven't been to Roshambo before you've missed
the most signifigant entry into the wine market since
Ernest met Julio. Roshambo features a vista view of
the Dry Creek Valley, and a thoroughly modern tasting
room-slash-art gallery (more info at
www.roshambowinery.com)

We'll look for you there, competing, wine-tasting,
dancing, and just being eXtreme!
